Large workpieces do not need to be split for segmented measurement; overall contour and height inspection can be completed in one clamping.

4. Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM / 3D Measuring Machine)

The Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM, also known as 3D measuring machine) is high-end 3D spatial inspection equipment. Unlike 2D and 2.5D machines which only perform single-point height measurement, CMMs collect spatial coordinates along X/Y/Z three axes.

Apart from regular length, width and height measurement, CMMs accurately inspect spatial position tolerance, coaxiality, roundness, cylindricity, surface contour, special-shaped cavities, spatial inclined holes and other complex 3D geometric tolerances.
